Topic 1: About me

                My name is Kai Russell. I'm a student-athlete intending at Linn-Benton Community College. I'm planning on majoring something in the business side and my top pick right now would be business administration. The reason I'm at Linn-Benton Community College is because I was recruited here on scholarship for basketball and really liked the coaching staff and the school's environment. My goal out of being here basketball wise is to play my best and find a school that is hopefully a 4 year college and play over there. My goal for school while being here at Linn-Benton is to get my 2 year bachelors degree in whatever it is I end up majoring in. 

                I didn't just take this media and culture class because it was a requirement for me to get to my goal of a bachelors degree, but more so the fact I found it interesting and wanted to learn a deeper understanding on media in our world. Media and culture is changing everyday and has evolved over time so much. I want to learn how media affects society and the power of impact it has. 

               For me there are two things I'm very passionate about, which are clothes and basketball. Basketball has been apart of my whole life. I started playing since I was about 3 years old and haven't tried a different sport since. I enjoy being around basketball and especially playing it. Like I said before I've been fortunate enough to have basketball pay for my education to be able to not only go to school on scholarship, but also be able to play basketball with it. Clothes is also a major thing that raises my attention. I'm big into fashion designer brands and streetwear clothes. My favorite clothes to wear and buy right now would for sure have to be GvGallery and Chrome Hearts. The fashion designer brand that I like the most of all would have to be Dior. I feel like the designs they make and just the simplicity they have across there brand is what I like.

Topic 2: Information I Consume

              For me, the three big sources I use to get my information would be TikTok, Safari/Google, and Youtube. These sources are quick and easy for me to get information. Media is posted everyday and there are always ways from these apps to get information quickly or able to get deeper into current events. This is why these are my "go-toos" to get information in life. I would say for my apps I use to get information, it's often by creators. I would say that's how I base if it is reliable information is by the creator who is saying it. If he is often saying news or has a good rep. For misleading or fake news, I feel like it happens so much especially on social media. People tend to make assumptions on events they don't know the full story and media people try to bring new news to the world and tend to drag somethings on or add things on that are not truly true.
